How to translate video subtitles
- Choose a video up to 2 hours and 2 GB. Confirm the spoken language and select a subtitle language.
- Generate the subtitles, review names and timing, and optionally show the original text alongside the translation.
- Preview the result, then download a subtitled MP4 or a separate SRT or VTT file.
Translate video speech into 12 subtitle languages
Choose the spoken language or use automatic detection, then choose one subtitle language. To add English subtitles to a Spanish video, select Spanish as the source and English as the target. Repeat with another target to download another language.

Check wording, timing and readability
- Listen to each cue and correct names, numbers and mistranslations. Editing the source clears that cue’s translation; use “Translate changes” again.
- Adjust cue start and end times, or shift all times if every subtitle is early or late. Times must stay inside the video without overlaps.
- Split long subtitles at the playhead, shorten the text, or choose a smaller size. Preview both portrait and landscape clips before exporting.
Video subtitle translation limits
Speech recognition can miss names, accents and words under music. Always review the result. Video export supports SDR video up to 1080p when your browser can encode H.264. HDR can use subtitle downloads. Long exports need temporary device storage.
Video subtitle translation FAQ
Can I translate a video that has no subtitles?
Yes, if it contains readable spoken audio. The tool transcribes the speech first and translates the resulting cues. A silent video or text shown only in the picture cannot provide speech subtitles.
Can I upload an existing SRT file or paste a YouTube link?
This tool accepts a video file from your device. It does not import SRT/VTT files or fetch YouTube links. Use a video you are allowed to process; you can download new SRT and VTT files after generation.
Which video formats and file sizes are supported?
Choose MP4, MOV or WebM with audio your browser can decode, up to 2 hours and 2 GB. H.264 video with AAC audio in MP4 is a useful compatibility choice. MP4 export needs supported video decoding and encoding; SRT/VTT remain available for supported audio when video export is unavailable.
What if subtitle generation or video export fails?
Use the reconnect control if the service is unavailable. Completed speech recognition is kept after a translation failure; retry “Translate changes”. For MP4 export, try 720p or download SRT/VTT. Keep the page open while processing. The latest draft is saved locally for 7 days when storage is available; reselect the same video after refreshing to resume.
Does this change the voice?
No. The original audio stays in your video. The translation appears as subtitles.
Can I turn off the subtitles after exporting?
Subtitles in the MP4 are part of the picture. Download SRT or VTT if you want a separate subtitle file.
Can it translate text already on the screen?
This tool transcribes speech. It does not read or erase existing text in the picture.
